INDIAN HEAD, Md.--Staff Sgt. Carson B. Jeffers is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) during an award ceremony June 16. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest peacetime award for heroism. It may be awarded to any person serving in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps for acts of life-saving, or attempted lifesaving at the risk of one's own life. - INDIAN HEAD, Md.--Staff Sgt. Carson B. INDIAN HEAD, Md. - A Marine with the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, prepares to execute a midpoint drop at the Naval Support Facility Indian Head April 19. The midpoint drop is utilized when there is an area that cannot be safely accessed by walking, as in the case of a ravine. The technical rescue Marine must first traverse across a highline that is established at two point at the top of the ravine.
