Marines from the II MArine Exeditionary Force, Chemical Biological Incident Response Force, Initial Response Force 'A' load CBIRF response vehicles onto a C-5 Galaxy, Apr. 1, 2011 at Joint Base Andrews, Md. The CBIRF is heading for Japan to provide the U.S. on-scene commander a rapid response capability and, if requested, [allow the commander to] assist the Japanese authorities by providing advice and expertise in the areas of agent detection and identification, casualty search and rescue, personnel decontamination and emergency medical care. This is CBIRF's first overseas deployment since it was stood up in 1996 in response to the sarin attack on Tokyo subway in 1995. (Released)
