INDIAN HEAD, Md.--Staff Sgt. Carson B. Jeffers stands with his wife (left to right) Sengchita, two daughters, Carrisa and Cindy and mother, Cynthia G. Jeffers following an award ceremony at the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) June 16.  During the ceremony Jeffers, a native of Montgomery, Ala., was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal; the highest peacetime award for heroism.  During and following the ceremony Carissa, 12, cried tears of joy.  "I was so happy I couldn't smile," said Carissa.  "People finally noticed that he [my father] is a hero.  So many people are heroes but they don't get noticed."
