INDIAN HEAD, Md.--Staff Sgt. Carson B. Jeffers is awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) during an award ceremony June 16.  The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest peacetime award for heroism.  It may be awarded to any person serving in the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps for acts of life-saving, or attempted lifesaving at the risk of one's own life.
