Campbell, commanding officer of the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force (CBIRF) after being presented the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism June 16. The Navy and Marine Corps Medal is the highest peacetime award for heroism. It may be awarded to any person serving in the U.S. Navy or the U.S. Marine Corps for acts of life-saving, or attempted lifesaving at the risk of one's own life.
