Executive Officer

Major Astrid M. Rivas was born in San Salvador, El Salvador and raised in Bowie, Maryland. She graduated from The Ohio State University in June 2012 and received orders to The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia. Upon completion of The Basic School, Major Rivas was assigned to the Logistics Officer Course, Camp Johnson, North Carolina and received orders to Marine Wing Support Squadron 373, San Diego, California. She served in Airfield Operations Company as the Bulk Fuel Platoon Commander and Company Executive Officer. In 2016, Major Rivas deployed to Isa Air Base, Bahrain as the Squadron Logistics Officer with the Special Purpose
Marine Air Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Central Command 16.2.

In December 2016, Major Rivas received orders to Marine Corps Recruit Depot (MCRD) Parris Island, South Carolina. She served as a Series Commander in Fourth Recruit Training Battalion and went on to serve as the Staff Secretary for MCRD Parris Island and the Eastern Recruiting Region.

Following her tour, Major Rivas was selected to attend the Combat Logistics Captains Career Course in January 2020. Upon graduation, she executed orders to Okinawa, Japan where she held company command and unit Logistics Officer at Combat Logistics Regiment 3, Headquarters Company and 3d Landing Support Battalion, Headquarters Company. She also served with 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, Command Element, as the Logistics Planner.

Currently, Major Rivas is serving as the Executive Officer of the Chemical Biological Incident Response Force aboard Naval Support Facility Indian Head in Indian Head, Maryland.

Major Rivas' personal awards include a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and Navy Commendation Medal.
